WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?
You do not need a referral for acupuncture treatment in most cases. The first step to becoming a patients is to book a consultation online or contact us directly via email if you prefer. Once your consultation is scheduled, you'll get a secure link via email to complete your health history forms online. You can do this from any device. All forms must be completed by the day before your first visit. At your consultation, the acupuncturist will examine you, go over her findings, define realistic goals and expectations, and make best recommendations for your care.
Please bring your calendar, smart phone or planner, as you will have the opportunity to reserve future appointments at this visit. Be sure to wear loose comfortable clothing or ideally bring shorts and a loose T-shirt or tank top for your comfort during examination and treatment.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
How long it takes to get relief depends on the nature and cause of the problem you have and your overall state of health. Most patients start to feel better right away and look forward to their visits here, knowing they will get immediate relief. For some conditions though, it may take several visits before your start to see results. As a general rule: the more acute the problem is, the fewer visits needed and the longer you've had the problem, the longer it will take to "reprogram" your body to obtain and maintain relief.
WILL MY INSURANCE PAY FOR ACUPUNCTURE?
Many insurances now cover acupuncture treatment. In addition, HSA and most FSA cards can be used for acupuncture. Acupuncture is considered a medical expense for Tax Deduction purposes.
We are in network with a few insurances, but for most of our patients we are out of network. Staff will provide the paperwork needed for you to get reimbursement directly from their insurance company, if you are eligible. More about insurance and fees at New Channel Wellness can be found on the Inurance and Fees Page.
As a courtesy, we will check your insurance policy for acupuncture benefits, just be sure your insurance information is filled out accurately and completely when you submit your health history forms.
HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Acupuncture works by causing measurable physiological changes in nerve signaling, hormones and neurotransmitter chemicals in the brain, and by boosting the body's natural rest, relaxation, and repair response. It can also directly and painlessly release tight muscles and strengthen weak ones. It reduces inflammation and increases circulation.
DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?
Yes and No. Once in a while, there may be a tiny pin-prick sensation that goes away almost instantly while your acupuncturist is administering treatment. Our patients almost always find treatment comfortable and relaxing and we strive to make sure you not only get results, but look forward to your visits here.
