DOES ACUPUNCTURE REALLY WORK?
We have over 2,000 years of empirical evidence that acupuncture provides relief from many common health problems. In recent decades, many clinical studies on both humans and animals have clearly demonstrated that acupuncture has specific, measurable physiological effects and can relieve pain, reduce inflammation, increase circulation, regulate the digestive tract, and activate specific areas of the brain.
HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Acupuncture works by sending signals to your brain, spinal cord, immune system, and vasculature that greater attention and repair is needed at certain areas. We don't exactly know how the ancient Chinese doctors figured out where to put the needles, but modern research is showing that they had a much more sophisticated understanding of the viscera (organs), fasciae (connective tissue), and blood vessels and microcirculation than previously thought.

Acupuncture can be effective in the treatment of pain anywhere in the body. It cannot repair severely damaged tissues, but can speed healing, and slow degeneration of tissues associated with aging. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
For pain relief, acupuncture works right away. I examine you and ask about your pain, needle the appropriate points looking for feedback that the treatment is working. Once pain is reduced, the needles are left to do their work for 15-45 minutes. 4 to 6 session are usually need to maintain lasting results, though not always.
HOW MUCH DOES ACUPUNCTURE COST?
Cost of complete treatment plan will depend on several factors. At New Channel Acupuncture, one hour session is $80. A course of treatment will be anywhere from 4 to 10 sessions depending on the severity, complexity, and duration of your condition. Treatment is recommended twice per week for the first 2 to 3 weeks for best results.
