Have you been told there is no reason you aren't getting pregnant?

Do you still believe you can get pregnant and have a healthy baby?

So do we!!!

Jennifer Kapraun, L.Ac. has been helping women & couples just like you overcome fertility challenges for over 10 years.

We have helped many couples with fertility struggles go on to conceive and have healthy pregnancies:

  • many had first tried conventional fertility treatments without success

  • others wanted to try a more natural route first

  • others were told they could only conceive using IVF

  • some thought they had little or no chance of ever conceiving a child

* Individual results will vary. No guarantee of specific results is warranted or implied and your results will depend on many factors.

Here are just a few of their stories:

A 32 year old patient with PCOS and infrequent ovulation begins acupuncture and herbal therapy and ovulates and conceives a healthy son within 3 months of beginning treatment.  No other treatment is administered.*

A 28 year old woman with PCOS gets acupuncture for 3 months prior to conception in order to reduce stress and improve functioning of her ovaries.  She decides to take Clomid once she is ready to conceive, and gets pregnant and stays pregnant on the very first try.  She continues acupuncture through her first trimester to prevent nausea and anxiety.*

A 46 year old women gets married and decides she and her husband decide they really want a child.  She starts weekly acupuncture, supplements, and takes Chinese herbs throughout her cycle.   After a few months of preparation and a few months of trying, she conceives.  Her pregnancy ends in miscarriage around 10 weeks gestation.  She takes a few months off to grieve and heal from the miscarriage, continuing to take supplements during this time.  She decides to try again and conceives and gives birth to a healthy baby girl.*

A 39 year old woman still has no periods after having had a miscarriage 6 months prior.  She still very much wants a second child, and wonders if acupuncture will help.  We ask her to follow up with her gynecologist to make sure there are no issues following the miscarriage.   She is then diagnosed by her OB/GYN with a condition of adhesions and scar tissue that sometimes occurs after D&Cs.  She chooses to begin acupuncture treatment immdiately to reduce stress and improve blood flow to her uterus in preparation for surgery to remove the scar tissue.  During this time she takes supplements to enhance her egg quality.    A few months later, she has surgical repair of her condition and her surgeon is impressed by her quick healing.  She has one period, and then conceives a health baby in the very next cycle.*

A woman with premature ovarian failure, diabetes, and obesity longs for a baby so deeply that she continues to try after multiple failed rounds of IVF and acupuncture support.  She and her husband decide to continue to try IVF, but with donor eggs.  She miscarries again.  The next cycle, her doctor approves her to add our Chinese herbal therapy to her treatment, we use herbs to address inflammation and "Heat" (a diagnosis or pattern in Chinese medicine theory that frequently causes early miscarriage).  She conceives a healthy baby and begins trying for her second a couple years later.*

How Chinese Medicine Works for Fertility

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine benefit mothers (and fathers) who are older than average.

Our treatments protect and preserve Jing. This aspect of us is our "essence", our deepest-level structure that is relatively unchanging through time, even generations.  Translate this to biomedical concepts such as DNA and the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis.  For fertility purposes protecting and preserving Jing will help mothers of advanced maternal age, men with sperm morphology problems, and couples whose embryos tend to have DNA fragmentation / don't survive the first few days of maturation.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine normalize menstrual cycles and relieve period pain.

Our treatments circulate and regulate flow of Qi.  This aspect of us is our "energy", the movement and metabolism that distinguishes living things from non-living things.  Translate this to biomedical concepts such as mitochondrial function, respiration rate, smooth muscle contraction, and blood perfusion of tissues.  For fertility purposes circulating and regulating Qi will help women with polycystic ovaries, thin endometrial lining, muscular tension and poor blood flow in the pelvic region, and men with low sexual stamina or poor sperm motility.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine reduce stress-related neuro-endocrine causes of infertility.

Our treatments calm and clarify the Shen.  This aspect of us is our "mind + spirit": mental and emotional processes that make us who we are and allow us to carry out daily decisions, tasks, habits, and rhythms of life.  Translate this to biomedical concepts such as sympathetic vs. parasympathetic nervous system ,  neo-cortex activity in the brain, limbic and heart rhythm entrainment.  For fertility purposes calming and clarifying  Shen will help women with stress-related an-ovulation or irregular periods, miscarriage due to stress, and unexplained female infertility. Men with low testosterone due to psycho-social causes or stress will benefit from a clear and calm Shen.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine balance out effects of under- or over-nutrition on fertility.

Our treatments nourish, cleanse, and move the Blood.  This aspect of us is the blood in our veins:  the nourishing liquid substance that delivers oxygen, nutrients, and minerals to our cells, and carries waste products to our liver and kidneys to be eliminated.  Translate the TCM concept Blood this to biomedical concepts red- and white-blood cell count, quality,  & function + the neuroendocrine aspects of immunity, psychological health, and cellular vitality .  For fertility purposes nourishing, cleansing, or moving Blood will help women with endometriosis, anemia, or auto-immune related infertility, and men with poor cardiovascular health, erectile dysfunction, or varicocele.
